Right on the edge of the village of Ogunquit, sitting proudly on a bluff overlooking the Ogunquit River, with the dunes and the Atlantic Ocean beyond, sits a grand Georgian mansion, constructed in the early 1920s. Dunelawn and the people who have lived in it have played an important role in the life of Ogunquit. The house was built as a summer home for the Smith family. With the passing of generations, the house became a first-class hotel to the stars of the Ogunquit Playhouse and others drawn to Ogunquit's beauty. The hotel thrived through the 1950s and 1960s. In the 1980s the estate was sold to developers and became the Dunelawn Condominium. This book is the story of the house and the people who have inhabited it.
